Ruutikangas is situated in Northern Finland, at the border of Liminka and Lumijoki, just over ten kilometers from Liminka’s town center and a short drive from Oulu, the regional capital of Northern Ostrobothnia. The venue is easily accessible, with Oulu Airport located just 30 minutes away.
Beyond being a state-of-the-art shooting sports center, Ruutikangas is also one of Northern Finland's most innovative environmental projects. The venue features a variety of spaces, including five large asphalt fields, open-air shooting stations, and green areas. All these facilities have been built with sustainability in mind, utilizing over one million tons of recycled materials such as concrete, asphalt, and rubber tires.
The center’s infrastructure is tailored to accommodate not only shooting sports but also a variety of other events. The facilities include repurposed buildings, such as former school buildings converted into a competition office and a shotgun sports office. The entire site is designed to cater to modern needs, with wireless internet and fully electrified areas.
Ruutikangas covers 93 hectares, providing a versatile venue perfect for hosting a variety of events. The site features five expansive asphalt fields, totaling over 5.5 hectares, along with 4,000 square meters of open-air shelters used as shooting stations. In addition, the area boasts landscaped green spaces, a 650-square-meter restaurant with sauna facilities, and up to 500 square meters of office spaces when needed.
The entire center is securely fenced, with access controlled through monitored electric gates. The main entrance is conveniently located off Highway E8, while a secondary entrance is available from Lumijoki. The venue is equipped with wireless internet, and the entire area is fully electrified to meet modern requirements.
The Event Center is located in the middle of the area, at the highest point of Ruutikangas, right next to the main entrance. The Event Center consists of two separate buildings. The restaurant building houses the restaurant and sauna facilities, as well as a souvenir shop. The office building offers office and meeting spaces, serving, for example, as the competition office. Sanitary facilities are also available within the Event Center.
The Event Center is an excellent hub for events. The spaces are versatile and can accommodate various activities, with catering services available through the on-site restaurant.The facilities can be rented for team-building days for organizations, with activities at the Ruutikangas area included as part of the program.
The Competition Center will be available for use in the summer of 2025.
In addition to shooting sports, the Ruutikangas area is available for rent for various events and occasions. Ruutikangas is particularly suitable for events that require a large, fenced area, and where guests typically arrive by their own cars. Transportation can also be easily arranged to the area from places like Liminka or downtown Oulu. Ruutikangas offers excellent facilities for successful events at the largest event arena in Northern Finland!
